asking pleading begging
offerings of herb and resin

teased with brief silence
the darkness seems it will never come

just then

the queen of sleep
finally
asks me
to join her for a dance

i dive into the deep with glee
sinking falling
at peace with the descent
warmth rushing up to greet me

suddenly touched with vigor
i dance
i dance with all my heart
me and my lady
the goddess of the nowhere
the empress of slumber

eventually our steps lose rhythm
and i fall into the gentle clover of her garden
