Nothing To Me
Javolenus
Here’s another impromptu song with lyrics courtesy of Ancient Greek poetess Sappho (c. 600 BC).
I literally jammed this up (got the basic idea a few hours ago), so it could do with time to grow, but I thought I’d post this early version anyway.
I’ll add a couple of alternative takes, just in case they can be of use. The guitar styles are slightly different in each take—maybe join them up into one track? Just a thought.
I recorded this with two cheap condenser mics and no FX. The chords are a simple run down on Bm shapes (Capo 3rd fret, taking it up to Dm).
The lyrics are from an old translation (1920) of a poem by Ancient Greek poetess Sappho (c. 600 BC).
LYRICS (Sappho)
“To One False In Love”
Oh, false as fair!
I am forgotten, then, by thee?
And on another shine,
Eyes that once gazed into mine;
Pretence of love all faithlessly.
Out! I don’t care
For such as can true love deny:
Love on forsworn your little day,
You’re nothing to me.
