Yuletide Traditions
coruscate
This song is a Yuletide gift to my son, telling him about my childhood. You can listen to the full track here. “Sorry” for the oddball BPM, I did the track to a long piano piece from BigCitiLoops, and added drums to it.
The acapella begins just SLIGHTLY before the drop of the first beat, so I added a bar of silence to help you place the acapella.

(Faded piece)
Time passes with each Rose Parade
Like old worn clothes Memories they fade
Let’s discuss memories, I’ve got this to say
How things were before they go away
———
Yule tide traditions Charlie Brown Christmas
Go to the mall and shop till we’re witless
JC Penny and the Sears Catalog
Jeffrey the giraffe and a glass of eggnog
Sat on Santa’s lap and begged with a mirthful
Slew of toys I saw on Christmas commercials
Money aint nothing and your gifts are free
I want what I saw on kid’s teevee
A man rings a bell with a bucket made of tin
my mom gives me change and I chuck it right in
A strange man says that charity is servile
My mother shoots back the perfect fake smile
Hate Walking for miles, stopping at Peppridge
Farm my lets me snack just to keep some leverage
The music is on loop, crowds made you feel cooped
Alley oop scooting out the way rambunctious youth
———
Video games were sold on sheets of paper
You’d take to the front to foil criminal capers
Chrome bumpers in lots, bright reflections
When the clouds parted and the sun was let in
Trips North to family with a cordial cherry
Box with a bow we’d chow and get merry
Champaign, turkey and hot tamales
Fireplace stoked with logs and love, always
Freeways and travel, phone calls and cards,
We’d stop to admire decorations in yards
Frigid nights, desert frost on the glass
a magical vibe as we slowly drove past
Interrupted broadcast, streams did not exist
Christmas tv bumped shows off of the list
Staying up late to watch the Grinch steal a tree
In my PJs with the rest of the family
————-
The Muppet show, the old bulb’s glow
That would burn down the house if you weren’t in the know
A single present opened on Christmas eve
As the night ended we’d shut off the Yule tree
Woke up too early, told to go back to bed
Lying under sheets excited instead
Christmas songs played on FM stereo
Here we go, traditional scenario
Eggs, potatos and bacon fryin and poppin
All the young ones focued on unboxin
Always get socks man, and some fun toys
Transformers and GI Joe Dough Boys
Stuff the wrapping in a bag, we’d quite make a mess
Across the living room asking what’s next
Corned beef and potatos baked for dinner
No guests, our rituals turned inward
——-
Mom drank from the vineyard, dad abstained
Often the dishwasher I thought that was okay
This is how we spent our days, quiet and peaceful
Closed away from the world which was so deceitful
——-
Coruscate….sharing a little about the good times… Gone forever… So enjoy your family and create good memories
Happy yuletide to all!
