Speck on the Mic

I was inspired by Speck’s remix “Boy’s Year,” particularly with the way he brought Calyman’s guitar picking from “School Boys” forward. Serendipitously, Speck’s acappella “DweedleDeeBombaDoo” is a close match to Calyman’s guitar picking (in tempo as well) and I built the track around Calyman’s guitar and drums, and a section from Speck’s acappella.
First, I noodled around with the epiano and settled with the power chord. Second, I jammed with the fretless synth until I discovered the bass line. Third, I answered the call of that sax shot — fweee! Finally, I added dotjot’s tambourines and supplemented Calyman’s drums with Drumatic 3. With some subs for texture, I put it in the oven for three and a half minutes and voila, a remix for the whole family to enjoy.
